Our story
From one table to three thousand people.
A simple meetup that grew into a community of digital nomads, expats and locals.
2022
The Beginning
Kevin, a digital nomad who settled in Romania, started the Bucharest Digital Nomads meetup to find people to connect with.
2023-2024
Rapid Growth
The community grew fast. By the end of 2024 it had passed 2,000 members and 120 events.
2025
Kevin's Departure
Kevin decided to move on from Romania, but his legacy continued through former attendees who kept the community alive.
2025
Digital Expansion
An Instagram account was created to share amazing events and continue using Meetup for event management and registration.
2026
Themed Events
We expanded the lineup with themed gatherings — board game nights, wine tastings, and more — giving the community new ways to connect beyond the classic meetups.
2026
First Workation
We took the community on the road: a week of coworking, hiking and group dinners in Brașov. Nice is next, over New Year.
Today
Meet your hosts.
Our volunteer organizers started out as attendees. Each Meetup event lists its hosts and their profiles, so you can see who is welcoming you before you arrive. Check the host profile and contact them through Meetup if you need help finding the table.
